The SAMBA

Our GALAPAGOS EXCURSION pictures

An “Adventure Cruise” to the unbelievable Galapagos Islands.  The SAMBA, our smaller than a “luxury cruiser” gave us a great advantage by allowing us to be the first to shore, before the “big guys” while the beaches were still pristine, without a footprint, no other tourists on shore and the animals all to ourselves!

The Galapagos Islands consist of 13 major islands, 17 smaller islands and some 40 rocks that make up the archipelago, or a chain or cluster of islands which were born from a fiery volcano deep in the Pacific Ocean. These islands have never been part of a continent, and unlike other similar islands like Hawaii, the Galapagos Islands have only relatively recently been discovered by man and more recently had human inhabitation.

Galapagos Sea LionsIn the Galapagos Islands it is almost always sunny with cool sea breezes that create a perfect air temperature unexpected on the equator.  The island scenery provides a amazing variety for sights from crystal clear turquoise seas, beaches with pink, volcanic black, powdery white and olive green sands, mangrove lagoons, lava fields and cactus forests.

The combination of these unusual characteristics has made Galapagos Islands a sanctuary for exotic animals, which have never learned a fear of humans.
